No picture to show but we did have a milestone moment today.
Mommy was holding Speck today and when Grandma Nancy held her hands out to speck, speck turned, stretched over and extended both her arms towards her Grandma Nancy to be transferred. And then of course we repeated this tremendous feat with Mommy holding her hands out and voila, SUCCESS.
It’s so exciting to watch Speck learn all these new things.
The First Solid

Speck started on solids today. If you classify a tablespoon of organic rice cereal mixed with milk a solid. She swallowed and had the whole thing down like she was an old pro at it. It was amazing. More food pics to come.

Speck’s First Diwali

Diwali, also called Deepavali (Sanskrit: ???????) is a major Hindu festival. Known as the “Festival of Lights,” it symbolises the victory of good over evil, and lamps are lit as a sign of celebration and hope for mankind. Celebrations focus on lights and lamps, particularly traditional diyas. Fireworks are associated with the festival in many regions of India.
Speck had her first diwali on October 21st, 2006. We attempted a trip to the Hindu temple in Houston, TX with Grandma Nargis. 
Speck turns 4 Months old

A very special visit from an uncle far far away

As we all know Speck is a very lucky child to have a family here in the US that loves and adores her immencely (we hope). But there is a section of Speck’s family (her extended family) that lives far far away. How far you ask? Is the largest subcontinent of India far ? Speck’s mommy’s family lives in india, (New Delhi, Pune and Chandigarh, to be precise.)
Well direct from Pune India, Speck had a very special visit from her Uncle Goldie. Speck is Uncle Goldie’s first niece and Uncle Goldie is Speck’s oldest uncle on mommy’s side of the family. And this was their first meeting. Speck was very excited to meet her dear Uncle Goldie, as he is the first relative from mommy’s extended family that speck has had the honor of meeting. She showed her excitement by smiling and posing for pictures with her uncle who was also very taken by his little niece.

Speck’s first visit to Philadelphia

Speck had the pleasure of meeting her entire paternal family this past weekend. This is was a HUGE bag of firsts for speck. First Flight, First meeting with Mom Mom Barb, Pop Pop RC, Mom Mom Brenda, Uncle Mitch, Cousin Devin, Cousins Max, Jeremy and Cousin Ian. First to the Iron Shop at Broomall Pa. First time meeting Uncle Billy, Aunt Maria (we already met her coz she came to visit us), Uncle Steven, Aunt Louise.
Mom mom Barb was at the airport to pick up speck and then mommom drove us to The Iron Shop. This is where we met the crew. It was awesome seeing all those wonderful and new faces. Andi and Jona (Andi lives next door to Mom Mom Barb and Pop Pop RC) watched Speck on Friday night while mommy and daddy went to Smith and Wollensky’s for a family dinner on Sept 15th 2006. Thank you ANDI 
On saturday, Speck met her cousins Max, Jeremy, Ian and her Aunt Louise, ofor the first time. It was fun hanging out with the boys. Even though speck is a girl, I am sure she will turn out to be tomboy, and she will fit right into her all boy cousin family. After that first meeting we headed over to meet Mom mom Brenda. Mommom was so excited her to darlin speck. This is the 3rd grandchild for her, and it remember the 2nd grandchild is almost 20 years old. So it’s like being a new grandmom all over again. Here we also met Phyllis and Ed, and Toby too. We had dinner at Fellinis with the family on saturday nite. Then on Sunday we went for Uncle Al’s unveiling. Speck aka Ariel is named after her Pop Pop Al. She placed a stone on his headstone and said hello for the first time. After that we went to Mom mom Brenda’s where she met a whole group of new people and of course all those new faces. Speck was on her best behaviour the whole trip. Through all the dinners, and day trips, and visits, and in and outs mommy couldn’t have asked for more co-operation from speck. Later on Sunday night, the family went to PF Changs for dinner. It was nice to have almost everyone together again.
On monday Speck had an appointment with her cousins Devin, Max, Jeremy and Ian at the Picture People to take some family portraits. We’ll post those soon too. In the evening we went out to dinner with pop pop rc and mom mom barb and uncle steven, aunt louise and all the cousins.

Speck Turns 3 Months Old

If someone had told me a year ago that i would have a baby in a year i would have laughed in their faces and said you must be joking. Yet here we are.. today with Speck who is three months old today. Truely the best thing that could have happened to us. Thank you
Aunt Maria comes to visit.
Aug 27th
Speck was very excited to finally meet her Aunt Maria in person this weekend. Aunt Maria, decided to come down to Houston and spend some quality time with Speck. It was a blast to meet her and we hope that she (aunt maria that is) will come visit us again.
For this event, Speck also got to experience her first restaurant trip ever on August 25th 2006. Yes, yes, we realize it’s a bit late to start taking her, as most people start taking 2 week old babies to restaurants, but we chose to wait till she was older, so the sights and sounds would mean something to her. Speck’s first night out on the town was at Cantina Laredo. There was music and Speck seemed to enjoy it and yes there was even dancing.
Speck says her first "word"

Well we have consulted a few and technically we can make this announcement.
Yes Speck did say her first word loud and clear and has since repeated it several times. This news was delivered to us by Grandma Nancy who was the first to hear the “word” spoken. The word is “Aagoo”. Once the report of the “word” came in we of course verified it’s use. Now we have key professionals and scientists trying to decipher what the word actually means but it’s said with a smile in response to other words spoken to Speck. So our prelimenary thoughts are it means something pleasant and positive. We will update the blog with more information about this first “word” as it comes in.

Ariel turns 2 months old

So today the princess of the cohen castle turned 2 months old. Mommy is still in awe of this wonder that has made life complete. Everyday with Speck is a day mommy will cherish forever. Thank you, whomever you are, for letting Speck come into our lives.
And now to celebrate the 2 months we had a…….ding ding ding… you guessed right a photo shoot. We need to find other backgrounds but for now our papasan swing will have to do
